North Cork Enterprise Board

The North Cork Enterprise Board aims to promote the development of micro-enterprise in North Cork by creating an enterprise culture, providing management training and mentoring services for business development and providing Financial Assistance in the form of refundable aid and capital grants, employment grants and assistance towards innovative feasbility studies.

The North Cork Enterprise Board was established in 1993 by the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr. Ruari Quinn, T.D. Thirty five enterprise boards nationwide were set up as part of a government initiative to encourage entrepreneurship at local level. The Board is a limited company by guarantee and comprises four staff members and a Board of Directors. Funding for the Board is provided by the Irish Government and European Union structural funds under the current National Development Plan.

Our Role

North Cork has a strong and successful small business sector. Our goal is to ensure the continued growth and success of micro enterprises in the region.

  • Fostering a local enterprise culture
  • Maximising the employment potential of small businesses in the region
  • Providing a range of business support packages to small-scale enterprises including business information & advice, mentoring, training and networking & promotional opportunities.
  • Providing direct financial assistance to qualifying businesses in the form of capital & refundable grants, employment grants, feasibility study grants, and equity grants.
  • Developing an enterprise culture in Cork schools through the Cork Schools Enterprise Programme.
