Meetings and Membership

Meetings

meetingsNorth Cork Business Alliance members meet on a weekly basis in the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow, Co. Cork (7.30 am – 8.30 am) and conduct their business in a friendly, semi-formal setting. There are approximately 32 members in the group and, as only one member is allowed to represent each membership category, the setting is non-competitive and, therefore, a more productive referral system is exploited – diversity is strength.

Each new Chair has the freedom to make their mark on how meetings are held and the format can vary slightly from one term to the other. The basic format is as follows:

  • 30 Second Intro – Each member gives a 30 second business introduction that can incorporate news about their business, new products/services offered, special offers, tips and general information. Sometimes there is a theme or question each member answers as part of this to shake it up.
  • Contribution – Each member is asked to contribute in one of several ways. A referral is of course the most valued offering. If a referral is not possible a member can give a testimonial, bring a guest to the meeting, report on a recent 1:1 meeting with a fellow member or failing all that, give a tip or piece of advice to the group.
  • Reports – committees report on any current activity during the week.
  • Body of the Meeting – a group member gives a 5 or 10 minute presentation, an external speaker or trainer works with the group for 20-40 minutes, or there is a group discussion on a given topic.
  • AOB
