Do You Recognise Your Baggage?
Isn’t it great to go away on holidays or even get away for a break overnight!
Having decided to go away you need to think about how to carry your baggage. There are important factors to consider: the size of the bag, how will you recognize it if you are at the airport, do you want a bright coloured bag, how much space/storage do you need? What about when you have to pull or drag your bag out to the taxi or bus – Is it easy to manoeuvre, noisy or weighing you down? Imagine carrying this around on a daily basis?
Without realizing it you may be carrying the same awkward bulky weight around with you on a daily basis. Packed away in the wrapping of you, is your baggage. This is what you are choosing to carry around regularly. As it doesn’t appear in the format of a bag you may not recognize it! Regularly you tell yourself you’re fine (when you’re not)! Ah sure, it doesn’t really matter (when clearly it does)! Asking others: What do you want? (Instead of asking yourself “what do I want?”)
Here are some of the other ways you may be carrying your baggage with you. Are you caught up with other people’s dramas? Do you have difficulty saying no or putting your own needs first? What is this doing to you – Weight problems, feeling burdened, wasting your energy, causing stress?
Do you need to start asking yourself a different set of questions to lighten your baggage? How great is it when you get to your destination and you can unpack your bag, no longer having to pull it behind you. That’s how you need to think of Coaching and what it can do for you. Going through the Coaching process is like going to your destination having with you what you need and being excited about your journey!
